The Zombie Plagues: Doomed Mar 30, 2015 by Geo Dell, Wendell Sweet $2.99 War begins:Two minutes of easy climbing and they were in the scrub brush at the back of the parking lot. From the square side of the parking lot it probably looked as though there were nothing at all at the back of the parking lot. Fine, Mike thought. He only hoped none of them knew what was below the parking lot, but he didn’t believe it. Anyone who grew up here knew what was at the edge of this parking lot. Anyone here now knew they were in the cave down on the Old River Road. Mike believed it was only a matter of time before they came for them. When they did, he would be here waiting. Before the thoughts were completely formed in his head, three people came running straight toward them where they stood within the scrub brush. Four heavily armed men were pursuing them. Firing as they ran. The three runners appeared to be unarmed. Mike stepped from the screening scrub. He had given it no thought at all. He stepped nearly into the path of the lead runner. Her mouth flew open in surprise; a small spatter of blood tattooed one of her cheeks. Mike stepped easily around her, took aim at the first of the four chasers and shot him just as he was slowing down to bring his own rifle up. To his side Candace crouched and began popping off at the other three as they continued running, perfectly aimed shots. She took out two. Lilly dropped the last one. The lead man’s momentum carried him forward another fifteen feet before he realized he was dead and fell end over end onto the blacktop. One of the remaining chasers managed to pop off one last shot before he went down. The last runner collapsed in a heap. It was over in less than a second. Five people lay dead. The lead runner looked around in wonder, saw the last runner laying dead and began to cry hard, her chest hitching as she tried to hold the tears back. Candace stepped forward and grabbed her as she stumbled. Lilly helped Mike grab the last woman. They faded back into the brush not knowing if anyone else might be close by or not.“It’s okay,” Candace said. “It’s really okay.” She pulled the one woman close to her and held her as she shook. Lilly held the other one. They were both breathing heavy, sobbing…The end has come. Polite society is gone. No police; No government and no protection. It’s time to fight to stay alive. When society crumbles and it is only you against the world; can you survive? The Zombie Plagues books follow a group of survivors through the beginning of the end to a place of nothing but raw survival. On the run from the living… From the gangs… From the dead… Read more

The Zombie Plagues: Southland Apr 11, 2015 by Geo Dell, Wendell Sweet $2.99 He slowly became aware of the pain in his left leg as his heart slowed down and resumed a somewhat normal beat again. He stepped out of the truck to the ground testing the leg. Dark blood covered a large area of the outside pant leg just below his hip and the blue denim fabric was shredded and burned. It now matched the lower leg.
The skin was spit open for a few inches he saw, but the bullet had only grazed the upper thigh. He breathed a sigh of relief turned and walked towards the store. He took his rifle with him and glancing back at the road listened carefully before he entered the store. Nothing.
Inside he slipped off the jeans and clenched his teeth tightly together as he sprayed the wound first with a disinfectant then poured a full bottle of peroxide over it. He wrapped the leg with clean white gauze and taped the flap tightly. It stung a great deal, but he was afraid of infection and it wasn’t likely he would be seeing a doctor soon he thought. The other wound had opened and was bleeding freely once more so he changed that too.
He looked out the front glass doors when he had finished still listening then stepped outside. He had seen a small shopping center when he pulled in to the left of the store and set off towards it now to replace the bloodied and torn jeans.
He picked up two complete sets of clothes leaving the others where he had removed them in the aisle of the store. The blood had nearly sealed the boot on his left leg to his foot he discovered so he pried them both off washed his feet as well as he could with bottled water to make sure there were no wounds under all the blood and then pulled on fresh socks and a new pair of boots.
He walked back over to the store and then back to the rear coolers. He was surprised to find them still cold and was even more surprised to hear a small fan kick on as he pulled a cold beer from within. He hesitated then pulled out one more.
He walked back towards the front counter went behind it and sat down on the stool that was there staring out the wide glass windows at the parking lot as he sipped from the can. The rain dripped and drizzled letting up somewhat.
“Well I made it this far” he said aloud. He shook his head lowered his face into his hands and began to weep…

If society collapsed today could you survive? Follow the survivors as they pick themselves up and try to rebuild their world. A world with no government… No police… No protection… A world where gangs control what is left and the dead sometimes do not remain dead… Read more

The Zombie Plagues: Billy Jingo Mar 27, 2015 by Geo Dell, Wendell Sweet ( 3 ) $0.99 Tommy awakened. He blinked; raised one hand to rub his eyes and the hand was stopped by something soft yet firm.He blinked again, squinted and tried to see better. No good; pitch black and although he was a man who had little natural fear he had begun to panic right then. Fear was everything in the rational world that you did not understand. Every battle you had refused, run away from: And fear was the great unknown. The things that you could only know with any degree of certainty after you were dead: And then only if there could even be such a thing as knowledge after you had passed from life. He doubted there was. He had not always doubted there was, but he did now.He tried to sit up: His body was weak, but he managed to get it to start to rise when his head had slammed into the same immovable surface. Hard, iron hard, unmoving. In a near full blown panic, he raised his hands as slowly as he could from his side and felt at his surroundings. The shape was not familiar, but in another way on a subconscious level it seemed completely familiar to him: The shape, the volume; the texture of slippery satin against his fingers, the hard surface beneath the satin. A recessed seam running across side to side; another, longer seam traversing the sides that he could not bend his hands into any sort of shape to follow. He continued along, feeling, probing, when he suddenly realized that he had forgotten to breathe. He had been so caught up in discovering this mystery that he had completely forgotten. He had never heard of anything like this happening to anyone, but he had no doubt that it had just happened to him. He was not breathing. He had not taken a breath in… He had no idea, a while. He tried to open his mouth and then the real panic set in. He could not open his mouth. His lips seemed joined together, unable to part. He put a little extra effort into it and felt them part with a hard, low ripping sound. Flesh stripped from flesh, like when your lips had dried out and then stuck together… Okay… Okay, don’t panic, it’s all fixable. He had probably just pulled a great deal of skin from his lips, but it would be fine. It would be…His fingers felt at his lips: It was not going to be fine. There were chunks and pieces of his lips attached to both lips. Thread woven from one to the other had held them together. Some ones idea of a joke: The thought had flashed across his mind, but even as it did he knew it to be untrue. No one would play that trick, not on him. Lita would never allow anyone to get that close to play that trick even if they had thought to.The truth of the situation hit him just that fast and he began to claw and tear at the satin lining. He tried to scream, but he could pull no air into his lungs. He felt his nails digging at the slippery satin, catching on the wood just below the surface and breaking, snapping off as the panic took over completely and he tried even harder to fight his way out of the casket…The end is coming and the only thing that can save the human race may also be the one thing that will destroy it forever: The Zombie Plagues… Read more

Knock Jul 9, 2021 by Dell Sweet $2.99 Johnny. The Farm House:
My hand is cramping, but I am almost finished. The dead are quiet right now. Quiet as in, not scratching, not trying to get in. I was glad about that at first, but after a while it has started to bug me. Makes me wonder what they might be up to. It is something to consider, and something for you, whoever you are, to consider too. One of the things we noticed as time slipped by was that those bastards got smarter… Faster… Like… Okay, Crazy-Town, as Lana would say, like they were evolving. There I said it. I know how it sounds, but it is true. Watch for yourself and see.So I wonder if that is what this is. Like they are up to something stealthy… Like those bastards cooked up a plan and are putting it in play… Maybe, maybe not, but it can’t be long until sunrise. An although sunrise no longer holds them back, they don’t readily come out as much. It’s like they need that sleep, just like we do, and they are not far from when they used to be humans, and so they have our sleep cycles… Make sense? Oswego: A small place in New York I had never heard of before. We were there only overnight, but I wish to Christ we had stayed… Read more

The Zombie Plagues Box Set Sep 16, 2018 by Geo Dell, Andrea Scroggs $9.99 He came awake in the darkness, but awake wasn’t precisely the term. Alive was precisely the term. He knew alive was precisely the term, because he could remember dying. He remembered that his heart had stopped in his chest. He had remembered wishing that it would start again. That bright moment or two of panic, and then he remembered beginning not to care. It didn’t matter. Nothing mattered. And he had drifted away. Now he had drifted back. But drifted was not exactly right. He had slammed back into himself where he lay on the cold subbasement floor where he had been murdered by a roving gang of thieves. And he knew those things were true because he remembered them. And he knew they were true because he was dead. He was still dead. His heart was not beating in his chest. His blood was cold and jelled in his veins. He could feel it. Some kind of new perception. He lay and watched the shadows deepen in the corners of the basement ceiling for a short time longer, and then he tried to move. His body did not want to move at first. It felt as though it weighed a ton, two tons, but with a little more effort it came away. He sat and then crawled to his knees… Read more

Guitar Works Volume Four: The CD60 Build Sep 16, 2018 by Geo Dell, Andrea Scroggs $2.99 This volume contains the complete Fender CD60 build. This is a complete start to finish custom build. The base is an Fender CD60 Acoustic cutaway guitar. As I often do, I planned this build in advance and then put the pieces together for this build over a few months while buying other parts for my guitar site. The idea was to build a Studio guitar. I wanted a guitar that I didn’t have to worry about scratching up if I dragged it out for late night playing sessions. In the same breath I wanted a guitar that would give me consistent sound. I also wanted a standard pickup alone with the under the saddle piezo, but I wanted these two sound systems to be separate from one another so that I could run them out to separate lines into my recording software or plug them into different amps. I wanted a pinless bridge. A pro quality neck setup with a compound radius fretboard. I wanted low maintenance, and I wanted a $100.00 build that played like a $500.00 build. This build begins with a donor body with a broken neck. It will cover the repair of the neck, prepping the body, installation of the separate sound systems. Leveling the fret board. Carving a bone nut and saddle replacement and much more. Over 100 full color photos, 74 pages (Print edition).Covers Stripping – Fitment – Bridge replacement – Building a Bridge jig – Neck Repair – Prep and Sanding – Priming – Color Coats – Clear coats – Electronics Installation – Fret Leveling – Installing a new nut and saddle – Carving a Bone Nut and Saddle – Final assembly – More. © 2015 Geo Dell. Guitar Works Volume Seven: The Scrap Wood Build Jul 16, 2017 by Geo Dell ( 5 ) $2.99 The Scrap Wood build is exactly as it sounds. It is a slim bodied electric guitar built from scrap wood. I went further than that and carried the idea of conservation through the build by using all recycled parts with the exception of new pots in the wiring harness.
This build starts with rough-sawn, recycled timbers; the glue up to provide the necessary width. Rough-cutting and shaping the body: Routing for a loaded pickguard; mating a re-purposed neck to the body as a glue-in neck. Fretboard work, wiring, shaping, sanding, electronics and final sanding, prepping, staining and finishing round out this project. Start to finished project fully photographed.
The resulting guitar, a short scale slim bodied electric, is not only unique but very playable and something you can be proud of finishing and playing. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense, action, character, romance….this book has it all.

One part of reading a book is to go along for the ride. In the best books, suspense has to build and characters have to be developed. The authors have done a beautiful job with this book in maintaining a suspenseful plot, developing the characters, and following the story of the survivors in Watertown, N.Y.

Sudden earthquakes and storms change the world until it is hardly recognizable. Strange lights flare in the night. Ash floats through the sky, followed by pounding thunder storms and snow. Some days last over forty hours, while the sun rises and sets in the wrong direction.

The characters include Mike, an unlikely hero and leader; Candace, a young African/Asian kick-bu** former bartender/dancer; Bob, Native American wise man; Janet, wife to Bob and nurturer of the clan; Tom, former truck driver who undergoes the most startling self-discovery; the dog, man’s best friend/companion/mascot; Ronnie, Patty, and a host of others. There are journal segments included for many of the survivors which lend insight into each character and further invest the reader in their story of survival, community, and new dreams.

There were grammatical errors, but I did not find them terribly distracting. Yes, I had to re-read a couple of sentences to understand the content.

This was not just a shoot-em-up zombie survival story. There was a lot of thought that went into the character development and story line.

A great beginning to the series. Now I am off to read the second book.
