The road to Chickasaw by W. G. Sweet
The end has
come for the people of Earth. The forces of nature have aligned, echoing the
cataclysms of the past, and a devastating event looms on the horizon—one that
will leave only a fraction of humanity standing. From America to Australia,
governments will crumble and fall, millions will perish, and the once-mighty
military machine will grind to a halt. In the chaos, fanatics and the deranged
will seize control of the remnants, only to be consumed by the same relentless
forces that brought civilization to its knees.
In the
aftermath, a desolate planet will remain—one that was never truly threatened by
humanity's presence. Only a handful of survivors will cling to life, waiting
thousands of years for their chance to reclaim their place atop the food chain,
if they can endure the trials that lie ahead.
Amidst this
devastation, Jack and Maria embark on a perilous journey from the lifeless
ruins of Los Angeles, scouring the desolate landscape for any signs of life. As
they traverse the shattered remnants of a once-great nation, they bear witness
to the extent of the destruction and the fragility of hope. Their quest reveals
a stark truth: the will to survive is the ultimate driving force. Fueled by a
relentless determination, they search for reasons to endure, navigating through
the haunting echoes of a fallen America.
Join them as
they traverse the wreckage, battling against despair and the relentless grip of
a world forever changed. Will they find the strength to carry on, or will they
too succumb to the darkness that surrounds them? #Dystopian #Apocalyptic

from Dello Green:
Jojo White ran the largest organized crime
outfit on the east coast. He had met West fresh out of the service when some of
those aptitudes had nearly gotten him killed. He had embraced that side of him.
He employed West to fix problems for him.
Jimmy shut
down the car and walked around to the back, looking in all directions, trying
not be obvious as he did it: There was no one around. He keyed the trunk lock
and the lid rose slowly.
West looked
down into the trunk: Smith had been easy. Sometimes ordinary people picked up
information or habits that became liabilities. When that happened Jimmy's phone
would ring. Not every problem he took care of knew something, but if need be
every one of those problems had given up their information before he had
allowed them to die.
Two weeks
before it had been a reporter from Syracuse. He had gotten a little too close:
Spooked White. White had put Jimmy on him. He had taken him out after have
someone meet him in a bar. Men could be so easy like that. He had used one of
White's girls, and the reporter had followed her back to what he thought was
her hotel room for a fun time. It was Jimmy's hotel room, rented only to do the
job. A few hours later he had carried him out to his car in his luggage. Today

HARROWS
A short
preview of Harrows:
When a man
tells you he has the moral flexibility to include murder in his life if he
deems it necessary this is probably not a man you should be hanging out with.
Jeff Johnson
had reminded himself of this fact about Robert Biel more than once, yet every
day he found himself hanging around, giving him lifts to do job searches,
parole, where ever he needed to go: Even hanging around with him at night.
Drinking, talking about the old days. Placing himself in jeopardy: They were
both on parole. Both had 9:00 PM curfews, neither was allowed alcohol; but
there was something about him that drew Jeff to him. Not a gay thing: He had
wondered about that, but his first experiment had solved that for him. He was
not bent in that direction, or predisposed, or whatever the fuck it was you had
to be. He still did… Things for Robbie. It had started in prison and it had
carried on once they were home, but it didn't mean he was gay. No, it was
something else. Like they were destined to do something some day: Some thing
that would change everything, or be remembered, something that would jump out,
make him famous; make them famous… Something. #Readers #ShortStories #Crime

Zombie: Origins
Zombie, #1
by W. G. Sweet
Book 1 -
Zombie
A great
extinction event encompasses the world. In an effort to help some of the
remaining population survive the governments of the world work together to
release an airborne plague designed to help the populations endure the
hardships and survive.
The American
military neglects to inform the governments, including its own of disasters
that occurred during testing. Especially that the virus will help those, still
alive by enabling them to live longer with less food
and water, but that it will also allow some of them to survive death itself. A
different kind of life that will enable the recipient to rise, move and become
some horrible parody of life. No beating heart... No vestige of the old person
they used to be. Some odd caricature that rise to eat and roam the nights, and
spend their days secreted away in dark places.
However,
these creatures are not completely devoid of thought. There is still purpose in
their rotted brains, still motivation of a kind and so they continue their
effort to finish what the extinction event did not... #Readers #Kobo #Horror

Book 2
- Zombie
"Yeah?
I think you like the idea of me... I think it might even hold together in a
situation like this... At least for a while. And I think you could talk me into
that comfort we could give each other, and I think you would feel completely
different about me once that happened. You would think it meant that we were
together, and it wouldn't mean that at all. It would mean we were scared, and
we took some comfort in each other... Because the attraction was there, and
because it can just be about that sometimes." She drew a breath. "But
I think then I would go from princess to whore, because that's the way this
world works, princess to whore in sixty seconds. I've seen it... I've felt
it... And then I lose my friend, and I also hurt my friend, because he doesn't
want to see it, I mean really see it for what it is." She reached one hand
up and pushed Johnny's hair away from his eyes...

Zombie: Mission Zero
Zombie, #3
by W. G. Sweet
Book 3 -
Zombie
"Careful,
Bear. I think he's bit. He said he wasn't, but his arm looks bit to me, and
when he was on the edge on passing out it was like he was trying to tell me
something... Kept lifting the arm, but he couldn't talk."
"Think
so," Bear agreed. He looked out the mouth of the alleyway, the shadows
were deepening already. Two blocks west he saw a hurried movement, shadows
passing behind broken windows. He looked back down at Rob. The bandaging was
sections of his shirt, ripped and folded. The blood seeped past it, and
occasional bloody bubbles appeared at his lips. A lung shot, Bear knew it. He
would die. Maybe sooner, maybe later. Moving him would kill him for sure. He
sighed.
"Maddy
you can travel? I ask because we got to." Bear shook his head, watching
the buildings two blocks down. There were no more movements yet, but he knew
there would be, and soon. Maddy followed his eyes as did Cammy.
"Yeah,"
she said as she looked back and met his eyes. "Something?"
"Several
somethings... May as well go get the truck and get back here fast," Bear
told them. "Don't waste no time." Maddy nodded and a few seconds late
she and Cammy were running down the sidewalk and the truck that was parked a
few blocks away in hiding.
Bear turned
back to Rob. "Rob... Man... I'm sorry," Bear told him. He pulled his
knife from the sheath at his side and with one quick thrust ran it through his
temple and into his brain. A little crunch of bone, but it was thin, the blade
passed through easily. Too easily. It made Bear sick, but it wasn't the first
time he'd done it and it wouldn't be the last, he knew. Rob never moved.

Earth's Survivors: Alabama Island
Earth's
Survivors, #7 by W. G. Sweet
Book 7 -
Earth's Survivors
The Earth's
Survivors books follow a series oif different survivors as they awaken to the
destruction of the Earth and begin to pick up what is left of their lives. This
is the first book to center on the Alabama Island survivors. Set in the former
state of Alabama, it begins in New York and makes its way there via the ruined
roads and fields...
Joel and
Haley
They both stopped
short as they topped the small hill at the crest of Main Street and stared down
at the downtown area on the other side of the river.
It appeared
to be more of a war zone than a city. The buildings that were still standing
leaned crazily to the left or right and only the tallest seemed to have been as
yet untouched. Haley wondered aloud at that.
"The
taller ones are not that old. Built with federal monies. Earthquake proof....
To an extent: When I was a kid the tallest building was the Baptist church tower."
He pointed to a gray stone spire that reached into the air.
There was a
small crowd of people milling around in the center of what had been the Public
Square.
"It
looks bad to me" Joel said softly. He pointed. "City police
building?" He met her eyes with his own. "Gone... There should be thousands
of people down there..."
Haley shook
her head. "Ought to go down." She looked up to see what he thought
about it.
Tiny people
walked aimlessly around the square or stood seemingly transfixed by the huge gray
spire of rock that capped the State Street end of the square. The sight of the
people broke the spell. Joel nodded once and they began the walk down the hill.
They stopped
and looked over the bridge that crossed the Black River. It seemed fine almost
untouched. It was so strange a sight that Joel laughed.
"What?"
Haley asked.
"Doesn't
it seem strange to you? Everything destroyed and the bridge sitting here
untouched?" He looked from side to side before he stepped out on the steel
decking and began to walk. As they neared the other side they could see that
there was a crack that ran from side to side and the road dropped down more
than a foot. They leapt easily down. #Apocalyptic #Horror #Zombie #Readers

The End of Summer
Glennville,
#3 by W. G. Sweet
Book 3 -
Glennville
The summer
of 1969 was winding down. The warm air held a smell 13 year old Bobby Weston
couldn't quite identify but nevertheless acquainted with going back to school.
An end of summer smell, he decided. Or maybe an end of summer feeling. He
couldn't make up his mind, and it really didn't matter, as soon enough summer
would be gone and he'd be back in school. He had permission to go camping
today. #YoungAdult #Summer #Readers #BookLovers #Free
