Why I Wrote It:

It is the exact thing I try to do, tell a story with a song. Sometimes I do it well, sometimes I don't. But I always do it for me. I have a friend who thinks they do it for the public. I hope that isn't true. I don't. It would make me feel like a whore of some kind. I write it because it is right there and needs to be written.

I wrote the first snatch of lyric, the first line of the hook, in the morning, and then sat down later at night and wrote the rest of it out in a minute or so. This is what I call a story songs. I write story songs or emotion songs. Emotion songs express a concept, story songs go deeper and try to paint the picture without leading you too much. Leaving plenty for you to think and imagine.
